Our story
Jeff has been helping people for a long time. His passion for carpentry started in high school where he began a part-time job helping neighbours with their projects. As the referrals came in, business grew, Westwood Fine Carpentry was born and Jeff hired his first employee, Dave – also a Westdale HS grad. Jeff kept working at his passion and achieved the highest accreditation and became a Red Seal certified carpenter. Years later as business continued to grow, he hired an apprentice, Dan.
When Jeff met his wife things began to change. They got married, bought a house in Hamilton, renovated it and had a son. They sold that house, moved to Dundas and began to renovate that house. Then Covid hit and changed everything. Jeff worked hard to keep the business and his staff employed. Their own renovation continued with a renewed sense of urgency as they prepared for the birth of their daughter. She was born at home, healthy and happy. Business was good as Westwood grew and expanded into new neighbourhoods. Things were going well.
About a month away from finishing their own renovation, fire struck. An old door bell caught fire and ruined most of the work they had done to make their house a home.They were gutted. And so was their home. Jeff and his family overcame this tragedy and rebuilt everything. It was an impossible challenge but Jeff kept working hard. Of course they also found time to catch the Arkells in concert, watch the TiCats win at home and dip their toes in the sand. Despite this, Westwood continued to focus on providing carpentry and renovation services for the Dundas, Ancaster, Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, and cottage country communities and ensured his clients remained happy.
